The industry's best-kept lead generation secret

All the list-building courses out there preach the same message:

"Pick a platform and publish to it regularly"

... want to know why?

Because the educator behind that course doesn't want to tell you their list-building system that they love (and that gets the best results)

That system is:

Partnerships.

They're the industry's best-kept secret.

Let’s start with a definition, shall we?

Partnership:

Where two business owners who aren't competitors join forces because they have audiences that are similar.

Quick example:

Nike designs and makes the uniforms for Major League Baseball. In return, Nike gets to stamp their swish on all the uniforms.

That’s a win-win partnership.

MLB gets new cool uniforms. Nike gets some brand awareness into an audience that’s likely to become their customers.

You cool so far?

Here’s why folks who watch baseball are likely in Nike’s future customer pool:

  • They’re athletic (or like to think they are)

  • Enjoy sports

  • Or working out.

So they’ll probably buy Nike clothes.

Another perfect example is Oprah’s book club.

Back when Oprah was on daily TV, her audience was mostly women who are also the majority of folks who buy books.

Fun fact: Women make 64% of all book purchases.

If you were an author looking to tap into a larger audience made up of your ideal customers, getting your book recommended by Oprah was gold.

The relationship between now-hugely-successful book author and Oprah is a win-win one:

Oprah needs a great new book to gush about and recommend.

Author needs readers for new book, so author can write more books.

Think of a partnership as borrowing someone else's audience.

The partnership can be big -- like creating a training for someone's program -- or small -- like sending an email to your list about your partner's lead magnet.

You know of the more well-known partnerships types:

  • being an affiliate

  • getting referrals.

But there’s a whole host of other partnerships.

Over the last 7 years, I've been creating partnerships to grow my email list and get new clients on a regular basis.

A partnership might look like writing a guest blog post for CrazyEgg.

Or appearing as a guest on a podcast, like for Kevin Roger's Copy Chief Radio.

Some of them look like creating a day-long workshop for Copyhackers.

Some of them are wildly creative, like a partnership I'm in the middle of right now with Sarah Noel Block of Tiny Marketing.

We created 4 different podcast episodes for her podcast -- all on the topic of partnerships.

And on Friday, May 19th, we're putting on a joint masterclass about leveraging partnerships.

Sarah used partnerships to make 6-figures in her first month of becoming an entrepreneur.

For me, they’re my #1 source of new clients and email subscribers.

I work an average of 12 hours/week and make a high 5-figures.

In fact, partnerships are the backbone of my strategy to make $200,000 while working 12 hours/week with a 30% profit margin.

Because borrowing someone else's audience works so well.

You're amazing,

Laura
